This adage, or variants of its kind, has probably been quoted so many times that, as often happens, it appears to have made its relevance less meaningful. Yet truth has a way of maintaining significance and profundity.
The crying need for a proliferation of exemplary leaders is what has prompted Caux Initiatives for Business to focus this quarter’s issue of CIB eSPIRIT on leadership. The well-written account on the business ethics of JRD Tata hopefully provides for inspirational reading.
Drawing lessons for business from the recently concluded FIFA World Cup in Brazil is another article that could elicit a certain amount of interest in leaders. This piece has brought out simple observations from the happenings of the most watched game in the world and lessons that businesses can draw from it.
This issue includes an article on how practicing good ethics gives competitive advantage. Ms. Amy Johnson while writing shows this by way of a case study and concludes her findings by enumerating four points that brings out her argument.
A certain organization called, GoodCorporation in the UK asked the newly formed Competition and Markets Authority to lead their May Business Ethics Debate at the House of Lords on the subject of ethical culture and competition. The discussion and outcome of the debate that we have included could make for interesting reading.
